These quick weight loss plans are called fad diets, and it is so named for a reason. They are aptly named: these diets are just a fad. Over time, when a fad is over and popularity decreases, more people will come to their senses and realize that the diet they have just depended on is just a fad and was not effective at all.

Here are some signs that the diet plan you have chosen is a fad diet and is not recommended to follow:

1. Diet without exercise, or exercise without diet: Exercise is very important to the body, it improves blood circulation and other activities of the human body system. Diet plans should never expect you to go without exercise. Likewise, you shouldn’t rely on a diet plan that relies on exercise alone.

2. Delaying tactics or procrastination: If you really want to lose excess fat, you need to start losing weight right now. Putting it off won’t get you anywhere and will only make your problems worse. If a diet plan suggests waiting a certain period before starting, you are most likely starting a fad diet. You are doing fine even if you lose just a little weight over a much longer period of time than you thought you would.

3. Skipping meals: If your diet plan requires you to skip meals, then it is a fad diet. Skipping meals is not a healthy habit. It may make you even worse, especially if you have diabetes. Skipping meals causes hypoglycemia, which is a condition in which your blood sugar levels are very low, and will make you even more hungry, causing you to eat more when it comes time for your next meal.
